Nightwish's next single off the Dark Passion Play album will be "The Islander". The single will be released on May 21st and will include the following tracks:
1. The Islander
2. Escapist (instrumental version)
3. Meadows Of Heaven (orchestral version)
Additionally, it will also include the videos "The Islander" and "Bye Bye Beautiful".
The "The Islander" video was shot last autumn in Rovaniemi and was directed by Stobe Harju. The video will premiere on April 14th at 7pm (Finnish time) on MTV Finland's show "Spanking New".
14th March 2008 - Anette to guest on new Rasmus album
Anette Olzon will make a guest appearance on the new album from Finnish rockers THE RASMUS, entitled "Black Roses".
Commented THE RASMUS singer Lauri Ylönen: "We've had a really busy spring, putting the album together with the guys. These 'last-minute' ideas and fixes have become come very important for the 'Black Roses' album, so all the waiting is worth it! For example, we brought this eight-year-old song idea back to life. It's a duet song. I got a wild idea to ask the NIGHTWISH singer Anette Olzon to sing it together with me. I called her and she said YES! So good things come for those who wait. We're getting there! Prepare yourselves for the greatest murder ballad in a while!!"
Olzon recently made a guest appearance on the song "Heart Full Of Fire" from BROTHER FIRETRIBE, the Finnish AOR/hard rock band featuring NIGHTWISH guitarist Emppu Vuorinen. The track is the title cut of BROTHER FIRETRIBE's new album, which is scheduled for release on May 14 via Spinefarm Records.

8 March 2008 - Nightwish win four Emma awards!
Nightwish were very successful in tonight's "Emma gaala", held in Helsinki, Finland. The jury awarded Nightwish Emma awards in the following categories: "Album of the year", "Metal album of the year", "Band of the year" and "Best selling album 2007".
7 March 2008 - Nightwish Confirmed For UK's BLOODSTOCK OPEN AIR Festival
NIGHTWISH has been confirmed for this year's Bloodstock Open Air festival, set to take place August 15-17, 2008 at Catton Hall in Derbyshire, England. The band will open the main stage on Sunday, August 17.

As reported on the official website, NIGHTWISH will take part in a signing session on Wednesday, March 26 at 6 p.m. at the Zavvi store on Oxford Street in London, England.
Warner Music Austria presented NIGHTWISH with gold-album awards for the band's latest CD, "Dark Passion Play", on February 28, 2008 prior to the group's sold-out concert in Vienna. The awards were handed out by Warner Music sales director Günter Unter before an audience of 5,000 enthusiastic fans.
NIGHTWISH's latest album, "Dark Passsion Play", has been certified quadruple-platium in Finland for sales in excess of 120,000 copies. The CD has also been certified platinum in Switzerland, and gold in Germany, Sweden and Poland.
NIGHTWISH has been nominated in the following categories at the Emma Gaala (Finnish Grammy equivalent):

* Best Metal Album ("Dark Passion Play")
* Best Album" ("Dark Passion Play")
* Song Of The Year ("Amaranth")
* Best Finnish Artist
Emma Gaala will be held on Saturday March 8, 2008 at Kulttuuritalo in Helsinki.
NIGHTWISH will perform at the House of Blues in New Orleans, Louisiana on September 20 as part of the third U.S. leg of the band's tour in support of the "Dark Passion Play" album. The trek, which will also include a September 24 date at the Tremont Music Hall in Charlotte, North Carolina, is tentatively scheduled to begin at the end of August and run through the end of September. Final details, including special guest support and on-sale dates, will be officially announced in early April. Discussions have also started to bring the band back to North America in early 2009 for additional touring. Those plans should be finalized by the summer.
